How to install IIS in Windows Vista and Windows 7
If you want to use Windows Vista or Windows 7 machine to act as a web server then you need IIS (Internet Information Services) on your machine. Now to turn on IIS feature in your Windows Vista or Windows 7 machine follow the following steps.
Login as an administrator.
Click Start, and then go to Control Panel.
In the Control Panel, click Programs.
Click Turn on or off Windows features.
Click Allow if you receive the Windows Security warning.
The Windows Features dialog box is displayed.
Select Internet Information Services to choose the default features for installation. If you want to install any additional features then Expand Internet Information Services. And select Additional categories you want to install. Once you have selected required features Click OK to start installation
On completion of installation Windows Features dialog box closes, and the Control Panel is displayed.
Now to check installation of IIS 7, type http://localhost URL into your browser.
