Andhra University is one of the oldest educational institutions in the country and was established in the year 1926.The university is mainly devoted to post-graduate teaching and research. Being so old the university is fortunate to have Sir C.R. Reddy and Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as its Vice-Chancellors.

Since inception the university has added several colleges to offer various courses of relevance and Contemporary significance. The University Presently is offering number of Courses in Arts, Commerce, Management, Science & Technology, Engineering, Law, Pharmacy and Education.

The University has five constituent colleges and four AU Campuses

The university 4 AU campuses are at Kakinada (East Godavari District), Etcherla (Srikakulam Dist) , Tadepalli Gudem and Vizianagaram.

Presently the University is catering the Educational needs of five districts of Andhra Pradesh namely Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Vizinagaram and Srikakulam. These five districts are under the territorial jurisdiction of Andhra University. The university is accredited with A grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The university has well established infrastructure and well equipped with facilities like Library, Cyber Law , Academic Staff College ,IQAC ,USIC ,Press and Publications ,Training & Placement ,Employment & Guidance Bureau , Horticulture ,Health Services , NSS ,Faculty Club and Sports
