Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur was established in 1962 as University of Jodhpur.Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the President of India inaugurated the University of on 24th August, 1962 and the four Government colleges of Jodhpur, MBM Engineering College, Jaswant College, S.M.K. College and K.N. College for Women affiliated to this university at the very first.JNVU or Jai Narain Vyas University name comes from Jai Narayan Vyas, He was a former chief minister of Rajasthan.

The university caters the educational needs of students in this part of India by providing Under Graduate, Post Graduate, PhD, Diploma and certficate Courses in various educational streams from Art & Heritage to Science and Engineering.
