Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University was established on August, 1 1987 as the University of Ajmer in Ajmer district of Rajasthan .The name was changed to Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University in 1992 after the great philosopher Maharshi Dayananda Saraswati. It’s located on Pushkar Bye pass near Ghooghara village. MDSU has been accredited with B++ grade by NAAC.

There are several government and private colleges affiliated with the university. These colleges are spread throughout Rajasthan thereby extending the Jurisdiction of the university to the entire state of Rajasthan.

Since inception the university has added several departments to offer various programmes like undergraduate Programmes, M. Sc., MBA, postgraduate (PG) diploma and Ph.D. programmes to cater the higher educational needs of students. The departments in which university offers various courses are history, political science, zoology, botany ,mathematics ,environmental technology, microbiology and laboratory technology ,instrumentation ,food and nutrition, applied chemistry, management studies computer applications etc.

The University has well established infrastructure, it is spread over acres. Library of university has large volume of books covering various subjects.
