The Swami Keshwanand Rajasthan Agricultural University, formerly a part of the Sukhadia University, Udaipur, became a separate entity on Ist of August 1987 with an aim to impart and promote agricultural knowledge to Modern Indian students.

The university setup is mainly divided into 3 important functions viz, Research, Teaching & Extension. The university imparts education and research work in agriculture and allied Sciences which include Horticulture, Home Science and Agri-Business Management for rural people of state of Rajasthan. SKRAU plays a very vital role in the development of Agriculture and Animal husbandry, Home Science and Agricultural Engineering aspects.

University is empowered to maintain academic institutions, dealing with agriculture, home science, agri-business management.
